Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Team member providing EPC solutions to Developers, Owners, Utilities, Industry and operating facilities. The position of Project Engineer I will provide technical direction to assigned design efforts pre-and post-award of projects and provide input as subject matter expert in discipline area. Project Engineers will manage all aspects of 3 party engineering scope during project execution and coordinate the efforts of multiple engineers across all disciplines, both internal and external.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Review RFP/RFQ/Contract packages for technical requirements
  • Prepare and maintain proposal technical exceptions and clarifications during the proposal process
  • Develop technical bid packages for equipment and subcontractors
  • Development of technical scope for construction subcontract bid packages
  • Development of technical scope for commissioning subcontract packages
  • Prepare technical evaluations and technical recommendations for equipment, engineer of record selection, and construction subcontractors
  • Develop, monitor, support and administer EOR subcontractors
  • Manage 3 party engineers for progress, quality, and cost across all disciplines
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor change requests against Contracts and recommend disposition
  • Provide input to schedule development
  • Support estimating efforts regarding quantities, scope, and technical deliverable for proposal efforts
  • Develop project reports and status updates
  • Lead and coordinate constructability between engineering and construction parties
  • Subject matter specialist in discipline area
  • Lead and coordinate efforts of multiple engineers of various engineering disciplines as necessary
  • Interface directly with clients as key discipline interface during project execution and with potential clients as needed to support business development and proposal efforts
  • Communicate engineering progress, issues, and recovery plans to MPC management as required
  • Support construction and commissioning through project final completion, for example RFI responses, troubleshooting, and testing
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities as necessary
  • Support development of engineering project division of responsibilities
  • Development of engineering project execution plans
  • Visit sites as needed to assist on-site as required
  • Visit subcontractors and suppliers to monitor progress and quality as required
  • Support project closeout and compile and distribute lessons learned

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Eight plus (8+) years of applicable experience in engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • PE Certification and ability to obtain and maintain multiple license status where needed based on the project
  • Capable of visiting construction sites and operating industrial plants

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and flexible regarding day to day responsibilities
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Passionate to be a technical team member to accomplish a high-quality product that satisfies the contractual requirements within budget and schedule
  • Technical interdisciplinary communication and knowledge to enable other technical groups to produce a high-quality product
  • Knowledgeable in industry standards, specifications and organizations
  • Experience in developing, executing and presenting a high-quality proposal to management
  • Experience with execution of multiple EPC projects from bid through project completion
  • Capable to visit construction sites and operating industrial plants
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time (Examples include: Job walks, planning meetings, status meetings, kickoff meetings, conferences, suppliers, construction and commissioning support)

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Travel to jobsites will be as necessary
  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises

SALARY RANGE: $75,000-$145,000 DOE
