POSITION SUMMARY:

• The Construction Site Manager is responsible for accomplishing project construction objectives and ensuring that established practices, procedures, and company goals are implemented in the key areas of safety, quality, construction planning, and construction execution at the Project Site. A Construction Site Manager has overall responsibility to Company for construction at a Project site and may support construction through all phases of a project beginning at pre-construction and continuing through construction execution and Project close-out. Competency in the areas of leadership, communication, planning, and subcontractor management is key to success in this role.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Take personal responsibility for safety and environmental compliance, demonstrate leadership in safety at the Project Site, and show commitment to an Incident-Free workplace through Employee’s own actions as well as by coaching and mentoring others;
• Typically assigned to one construction site before mobilization and until Project completion;
• Primary responsibility to manage performance during construction including safety, quality, Subcontractor coordination and management, resolution of technical issues, schedule, cost control, and change management;
• May support preconstruction efforts including developing construction strategies, selecting potential Subcontractors, supporting estimates, and developing construction schedules;
• Implement Construction Execution Strategies and Plans during construction execution and manage all aspects of site construction from mobilization to project completion and closeout;
• Interface with the Project Manager and others to provide required construction support for the Project;
• Interface with Company and third-party Engineering to provide constructability and value engineering;
• Interface with Company Procurement to expedite deliveries of Company-furnished items to the site;
• Interface with Company Project Controls to support overall Project scheduling, cost management, and progress reporting;
• Support Department leadership in scheduling the mobilization of required staffing to the Project Site;
• Manage, supervise and coordinate Company construction personnel working at the Project Site;
• Maintain relationships with clients, engineers, Subcontractors, and consultants, especially at the Project Site;
• Lead meetings at site including safety, Subcontractor coordination, construction progress reviews, and special discussions;
• Assure that Quality requirements including inspection and test data are being prepared and recorded in compliance with specifications;
• Manage turnover of documents and records to Commissioning and Startup;
• Manage completion of punch-list work and other construction completion activities at site;
• Manage completion of final site closeout documents and work.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of site construction experience with progressive responsibility on heavy industrial construction Projects for industries such as Power Generation, Chemical Processing, Petrochemical, or similar.
• Prefer working knowledge of construction techniques in multiple disciplines.
• Previous experience as a Construction Site Manager or similar position preferred.
• Experience in both new construction and revamp work preferred.
• Knowledge of subcontractor management in a construction management role preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Working ability with Microsoft Office required. Experience with Project Management software preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings, technical procedures, Subcontracts and contracts.
• Ability to write reports, prepare written correspondence concerning Project needs and issues, and to document project activities.
• Effectively communicate with Project Managers, Engineers, Subcontractors, and site construction staff.
• Effectively present construction information to Company Project Manager, Engineering and Company senior management.
• Calculate figures and amounts such as proportion, percentage, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to construction requirements.
• Solve practical construction problems based on experience and Project technical requirements.
• Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Must be able to navigate obstacles while walking at construction sites, climb ladders and stairs, occasionally lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds, hear horns and warning alerts, and visually inspect installed work.
• Willingness and ability to be assigned to Project Sites 100% of the time from mobilization until Project completion with potential travel to Company, Engineering, or Supplier facilities for brief periods. May be temporarily assigned to a Company office location.
